Removal of the floor screed

Dismantling work related to the floor is the most important stage of major repairs. Their result is getting rid of the old floor covering, which has lost its aesthetic and functional properties. In addition, dismantling the screed involves effective preparation for further construction work. This type of service is most often entrusted to specialized companies, whose employees have the appropriate skills and a full set of tools.

In what cases is it necessary to remove the screed?

In general, these processes occur as part of a major renovation of an apartment, house, office, or redevelopment of a room. In this case, a layer of concrete floor of a certain thickness is necessarily removed. Usually, a cement screed contains a metal mesh for reinforcement, which is quite easy to dismantle. The main thing is to avoid damage to the supporting structures of the walls.

Most often, the need to remove the screed arises in the following situations:

  • if it can no longer perform its functions, and the level of its sound and thermal insulation has significantly decreased;
  • if it is planned to carry out major repairs or redevelopment within the project plan;
  • when it is necessary to make the floor level higher or lower;
  • if it is necessary to replace old communications that run below the screed layer.

The type of concrete floor is taken into account during the work. It is performed in a monolithic or composite format. In the first case, the craftsmen are dealing with a screed poured in one continuous layer, in the second - another layer is supposed to be poured over the base.

Basic steps and methods for removing screed

Before starting the dismantling process, it is necessary to warn the neighbors about the noisy work. Next, preparatory work is organized - furniture is removed, old floor coverings and skirting boards are removed. Then a small fragment of the screed is removed using a jackhammer to assess the thickness of the layer. After this, the dismantling process takes place directly using the selected technology.

Typically, workers use three methods of removing the screed:

  • Impact. The work involves a perforator, saw or jackhammer. This method involves applying force to the concrete surface to crush the material into small pieces. The impact method is recommended only if there is no metal reinforcement in the concrete layer.
  • Drilling. This format involves carrying out dismantling work on a separate segment of the floor. At this stage, you need to have a tool with a diamond drill, which must be periodically cooled. Drilling is considered the quietest option.
  • Cutting. The method is used to remove super-strong screed. It is cut into individual fragments, then separated from the floor slab and removed. The process requires the use of a large amount of water to moisten the surface.

For work, it is necessary to have a certain number of bags for collecting and further removing garbage.

Prices for dismantling screed in Kyiv

Dismantling work requires certain physical effort and skills in the field of construction. Quite often, this process involves careful preliminary calculations and compliance with safety rules, taking into account the environmental component. The company LLC "RBK ALBA" provides the following services, offering them in a convenient turnkey format. You can order it via the website or by phone. The cost of this service is estimated for each customer separately, taking into account the main indicators:

  • the condition of the concrete screed that needs to be removed;
  • the characteristics of the material from which the screed is poured;
  • the presence or absence of reinforcement;
  • the total area of the room;
  • the specifics of the finishing coating that is subject to preliminary removal;
  • the need for additional supporting services;
  • the distance to the nearest waste disposal site.

Another important factor that affects the price of dismantling the screed is its thickness. Most often, this parameter fluctuates within 4-5 cm. Taking these points into account, the final price is announced by the masters at the stage of signing the service agreement.
